5	This book tells the story of Coraline, a curious young girl who discovers a secret door in her house. The door takes her to what seems like a duplicate of her house, with parents that look like hers, but have buttons for eyes. They want to keep Coraline. She has to use her bravery and cleverness if she wants to escape from this other world and return to her own. I was very impressed with this book. The storyline is very good, and would appeal to older children who enjoy fantasy and horror stories. 2011-08-11
5	This book was riveting: disturbing yet a wonderful depiction of good versus evil. Coraline Jones has recently moved into a new flat with her mother and father. The summer stretches ahead of her, uneventful and boring. Although Coraline's parents work at home, she is constantly seeking the attention and excitement she craves. When Coraline goes through a mysterious door in her family's drawing room, she meets her "other parents," and finds a world that is similar yet different from her own. Soon, her real parents are kidnapped, and Coraline must enter into a fight for survival that will test her courage and pit her mind against a malevolent and mysterious entity; an all-consuming force that wants to keep Coraline forever. Gaiman's writing is simple yet profound. I loved how seemingly insignificant and mundane objects were used as weapons in Coraline's quest. I also loved the British feel to the haracters and setting. This novel is a fairy tale that forces you to examine your own life and the people around you. Please give it a chance. God bless you all. 2012-06-16
