5	This is an excellent book to introduce Black history and literary techniques. The author paints vivid pictures of the scenery that are easily pictured in one's mind. She makes excellent use of similes and comparisons. It is an excellent springboard to discussion of Black history and American history during the Depression. 2011-08-05
