This is a good read and a must have for any young Star Wars fan. Wolverton has created well-developed characters which youngsters will find appealing and compelling. The book follows the adventures of Obi Wan, a 12-year-old future Jedi hero, as he learns the ways of the force, a life-altering power. Unlike many science fiction action books for children, the plot is not stilted and predictable. Timeless themes such as good vs. evil, friendship, honor, and perseverance, which pervade the Star Wars movies, remain strong mainstays in this book. Young people will enjoy vicariously living the adventures of a young man going against great odds and believing in his own abilities to rescue others and make a positive difference in his world.
